May Day Interclub 2008
The committee of Staffs & Shrops Land Rover Club would firstly like to say a big thank you to all those that helped out in any way, especially to those that marshaled, over the May Day bank holiday weekend at Baden Hall.
The weekend got off to a great start, but unfortunately the weather took a turn for the worse and the event turned into quite a challenge (something we are quite used to after all).
Let us remind you that a lot of work goes into staging such a big event with months of preparation, but as everyone knows all good plans are laid to rest when the good old British weather intervenes.
Unfortunately there has been some talk and we would like to put any rumours to rest:-
The CCV was testing to say the least, but this was due to the fact that we had had a good 12 hours of continual rain overnight. Please be assured that all those sections had been driven previously.
The comp safari ran smoothly, in our opinion, considering the conditions, with 74 motors entered (please note that the supp. regs. actually stated an entry number of 75 motors allowed).
We would also like to reiterate that the number of runs is never guaranteed at any event and was never stated before the day. Unfortunately a reduction in the number of runs that day was necessary due to the conditions.
Concern is that rumours seem to be spreading that could mean the end of one of the more competitive and anticipated events held over the year, and as everyone is aware issues with land and land costs is an ever increasing problem for all clubs.
We would also like to say that we are already looking at a change of venue for next years interclub - to be held for the enjoyment of motorsport and the whole family.
We hope that everyone had a safe journey home and the mud has been washed off ready for the next event. Plus, we trust that we shall have your continued support when we do it all again next year.
Once more - many thanks.

Chairman and Club Secretary
