I have been asked by Cornwall & Devon LRC to distribute the attached information on this years Nationals to you all - having been to Newnham Park a couple of times before, I can say that it is a good ground for a National and close enough to the seaside to make a bit of a holiday out of it. Perhaps this will get as all motivated and the booking forms in the post!  Follow the link lower down for more details from C&D.

Can I also remind you that S&S have a club stand at the forthcoming Indoor 4x4 Show at Bingley Hall, Stafford on 21st March 2010 - I am sure the guys there would appreciate you calling on them for a bit of support.

We then have our first CCV of the year at Red Hall Farm on 28th March 2010 - starts at 10am, with scrutineering from 8.30 to 9.30am. Then we have an Easter "working" weekend up at Red Hall Farm also - there will be a RTV on the Saturday 3rd April and a TYRO on the Monday 5th April. Come along and camp and give the guys a hand getting the ground ready for May Day, etc.

Also, on Sunday 4th April there will be a pre-season scrutineering day, when you can bring your motors up to be checked over, get them log booked or get your helmet stickered - we will also be setting up the timing equipment for anyone interested in the job of Chief Timekeeper, or for those that just want to help out sometimes, to come and have a look at how it all works (it is not as hard as it seems). All this will start at 11am together with an Easter egg hunt and games for the kids - please drop me a line if you think you will be bringing the kids along, so we know how many eggs to get.

Lastly, can I remind you to get your booking forms in for May Day and hope that we can make a good start to the season - remember the events are only as good as you make them.

Hope to see you all soon.

 2010 ALRC Nationals   29th to 31st May 2010

Please join us at the ALRC National Rally with Cornwall and Devon Land Rover Club. Our club is family based and we love a good party, so you know the drive down will be worth it.
Come and join us for a great long weekend with all the competitive fun of a 12 section RTV and CCV. If you've heard of, or been to our 2 day Charity Event you will know how good this competition ground is, and for the “Comper”, out there is 4.5 miles of fast hard run.  For the younger ones there is a Tyro and Bike Trial.  The Concours Event means you can get to show off your pride and joy, win trophies for working vehicles or for that special vehicle in your life, so you don't even have to get it covered in mud!

There will be a Beer Tent open from 12 to 12 (Friday to Monday) and on-site caterers who will be in the competition grounds as well, also trade stands.

So come down and visit us, make it a holiday and visit some of the great attractions in Cornwall and Devon, like the Eden Project, the National Aquarium, Plymouths new shopping Centre, there are plenty of things to do and see.  Remember, if you don't want to cook, there is a wide variety of pubs, chip shop takeaways and restaurants not far from the site, also an LPG station open all weekend and Supermarkets close by.

Comp Safari Timekeeper

The club is now desparately in need of Comp Safari Timekeepers

If people are put off this role, because it seems like a huge individual commitment, it need not be so,.. if we had a pool of people, all 'trained' to do the job, it could be shared between them over the season.  Remember, there are only 5 comp safaris, so it's not a big commitment if shared.

It would of course be ideal if there was one person willing to take on the role of overseeing the 'Time Team'

Training will be given to anyone who can help, so if you would be able to help at just one or two comps, perhaps as a family group (?), please contact Simon or Ann or Rob for more information.

17/02/2010   We have a new Child Protection Officer

A big thank you to Dawn Tunnicliffe for taking on the role of CPO at the last committee meeting!

12/01/2010
2010   AGM

The Staffs & Shrops Land Rover Club's Annual General Meeting took place at The Swan at Whiston, Near Penkridge at 7pm on Tuesday 12th January 2010.

Simon Cooper was elected Chairman, and Simon invited Andy Bayliss to continue as Vice Chairman, the members agreed, and Andy accepted.

Rob Siddall was elected Competition Secretary, and will be assisted by Sean Boulton.

Shaun Tunnicliffe stood unopposed, and is now the  First Aid Officer.

All other positions on the committee remain unchanged.

Thank you to the 56 members who braved the cold to attend, and cast their vote.

We all look forward to a great year of events !

Please remember, the club needs members to set out events, as well as entering them, so please help set out at at least one event this season, many hands make light work, and its great fun !

Thank you.

18/01/10     S&SLRC Member makes Dakar Race History !!

This is just a quick email to let you know, and so you can let all in the club know that Milly, Sue Jones member of S+S has become the first English women to finish the Dakar in a truck.

Have a look at the website at http://www.rallyraid.co.uk/ for some info and pictures and a http://www.dakar,com/ for race info

This year in Argentina and Chile is being called the hardest Dakar ever and everyone struggled including Milly, but she has achieved a lifetimes goal in racing a truck in Dakar.
